Info

You can download Spamato for Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, Mozilla Mail (only old versions), or as a stand-alone proxy component. Spamato needs a working Java 5 (JRE) environment (or higher). You can get the latest version of Java from Sun: http://http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads.

We have tested Spamato on a variety of operating systems. So far, we have encountered general problems only with Windows 95/98/ME (or older), so Spamato might not work if you install it on such systems.

Please read the 'Update Notes' in the corresponding installation guidelines if you already have installed a version of Spamato! Otherwise, you might encounter difficulties when just installing the new version. Remember: you need at least Java 1.5 to run Spamato.

When starting your email client for the first time after installation, it might take up several seconds to initialize the system, so please do not wonder what's happening. You will be asked a few questions and receive a challenge message which is automatically detected by Spamato and enables collaborative filters, such as the Earlgrey and Comha filter, to report and revoke messages.

Just a general note: Spamato installs a local web server, by default running on port 8574, which is used to configure Spamato. You can always manually point your browser to http://localhost:8574 to check your settings (besides clicking the Spamato config button in your email client).

If you have any questions regarding the installation or usage of Spamato, please post a message to our forums on SourceForge. We also like to know what you think about Spamato. Any comments? Any bugs? Any missing features? Please tell us everything so that we can improve Spamato to fit your needs!
